Pepper

In 2018 our oldest daughter decided to hatch some eggs as a science fair project at Whittier Elementary. 10 eggs were incubated and 4 eggs hatched, 2 females and 2 males. We fell in love and decided to keep the two hens, Pepper and Salt.

Pepper has been the matriarch of flock since we started our little front yard chicken endeavor. She is stern but fair to the other girls, keeping them in line at all times.

In 2022 we put some fertilized eggs under a broody Pepper. She ended up hatching two of the eggs and it was incredible to watch her natural motherly instincts take over. She was a great mom and we ended up keeping the one female that hatched; now lovingly called Kylo Hen.
